Markus Schöllmann, Strategy Manager

Markus Schöllmann doesn’t fear large tasks. Whenever there is trouble with a project, he jumps right in.

Mr. Schöllmann, what makes a Strategy and Escalation Manager?

Laughs) Quite a lot. I work in very diverse areas. Wherever strategic difficulties emerge, I try to contribute to the solution as quickly and effectively I can.

So, you always get involved in a project only after it is in trouble?

Yes, you could say that. Most of the time, I’m the fireman...

That sounds like a great deal of stress.

That’s not the way I see it. It is a question of how one approaches a task that has been assigned. I see it as a challenge, as an opportunity to learn something.

After graduating, you founded your own enterprise with former classmates. Don’t you miss the feeling of being your own boss?

No, not at all. I was able to assume a lot of responsibility with the SELLBYTEL Group from the beginning. In addition, every day I work with interesting colleagues on an international level – I could not have obtained these experiences at our small firm.

You first started as assistant to a member of the SELLBYTEL Group’s management, then you became Strategy Manager – not exactly the classical career path for someone who studied Information Systems.

At the SELLBYTEL Group, talent and ability are what count the most. They are open to employees who originally come from other areas. In my case, the most important thing was that I could demonstrate broad background knowledge and had learned to think and proceed analytically.

When you analyze your own career strategically, to what result do you come?

I would say: So far, I’ve done everything right!
