SOPAa shelved amidst widespread online protest
The controversial Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) was shelved by legislators last Friday after widespread protest on the Internet on Wednesday by Wikipedia, Reddit and other major Internet players. Many of the sites signaled their displeasure with the bill by going dark for an entire day. Congressman Lamar Smith, the chief sponsor of SOPA, pulled the bill "until there is wider agreement on a solution."
