Three questions to Markus von Rhein, Managing Director of the SELLBYTEL Group:

Mr. von Rhein – on behalf of the SELLBYTEL Group you are traveling almost all around the globe. Can you describe your experiences?

There are a lot of incredibly exciting impressions. But first and foremost we concentrate on the specific challenges of each country, as each culture is different. Yet it is our task to guarantee one consistent aspiration all over our worldwide locations. Especially in Asia, where we are growing intensively, the mentality differs between the single countries in a very high way.


How do you deal with these difficulties?

We don´t consider differences as difficulties. Instead for us, the cultural differences are a huge chance. In opposite to competitors having extended their business only in one country, we are used to deal with the requirements of single countries due to our continuous growth within all over Europe. Each new location includes for example new languages as well as cultural specifics. We also know which strategies are working successful in Europe and so we can adapt them to new markets in Asia. Our clients appreciate that. With SELLBYTEL Group, they rely on a partner being a catalyst to accelerate their growth on the APAC markets.


From culture to career: You started working at SELLBYTEL Group as Key Account Manager. What is your tip for the junior staff in order to make a successful career?

You should love what you do. And you should do it well. Changing job is not automatically an engine to accelerate your career. I would recommend regulating your objectives over the long term. A short while ago I watched a movie called “Moneyball” explaining what I am referring to: The plot was about a baseball trainer leading his underdog team to success without any high budget and without any famous player. Yet in the end he rejected the following lucrative offer of the league´s top team. He knew he would fail within this new team sooner or later. What I want to say with this is: Reflect on your strengths and go ahead planning a career with substance!
