Meet our friendly colleague Alkan who is a real “Franke” as the locals are called. He was born and raised in Nuremberg Germany. During his time studying Bachelor of trading commerce, he worked in the customer service department for a global leading brand in the fashion industry. After successfully graduating, he continued his career in the company for six years. He then moved to Sweden and worked as a Global Operation Planner for three years. Despite the great time he was having, he wanted to face a new challenge and moved back home to his family and friends.
Shortly after his return, Enis Demir the Managing Director of RIGHTHEAD convinced him to join SELLBYTEL. Together with Volker Häßler the Managing Director of SELLBYTEL, they had a great discussion that left Alkan determined to not only join but also develop his career in an international environment.
He joined SELLBYTEL in September 2017 as an Operations Manager for our client, a leading provider of internet services. And after nine months in the project, Thomas Soria-Galvarro the Managing Director of INVIRES, the youngest SELLLBYTEL subsidiary that offers premium home office solutions, approached him with a proposal to become his Program Director.
Wow that’s a fast development! You have been with INVIRES since the very beginning, can you tell us how the start was and what the journey has been like?
Yes, it has been exciting since the very first day! The start was very tough as our client changed their plans on short notice. This called for our quick reaction and an efficient plan to set up everything. It was – no, it still is – an extremely busy time with a lot of work to do as we continue growing. We are an amazing team and we work very hard to be successful! So far, I can proudly say that everyone, from our service specialists, the overheads to our Managing Director, are doing an awesome job.
What is your current position all about?
Since May, I am the Program Director for our client, a multinational e-commerce marketplace. I have the overall responsibility of the project when it comes to the staff, finance & performance.
What do you love most about your role?
I love the fact that it never gets boring. Something new comes up every day. There are always new opportunities to take, lessons to learn or challenges to overcome.
How do you overcome challenging situations in your professional life?
Easy! I always focus on finding a solution and never waste time with dead ends. There is always a way and I think history has proved that many times (laughs). Everyone has their own special talent, so the most important thing is to build a strong team around you with different types of characters so as to use each of their strengths in the right area.
In your opinion, what makes INVIRES a special employer?

And finally, how do you like to spend your free time?
To make up for my absence abroad, I try to spend a lot of time with my family and friends. I also like listening to music and watching movies. Travelling and sight-seeing is another hobby I enjoy doing. And because I like staying fit and working out, I spend a lot of time at the gym. Not forgetting my love for football! Since I was a child, football has always been my favorite sport in which I have actively played for about 20 years (smiles).
