At the age of only 35, our colleague with the charming name Amatijane knows exactly what got him to where he is today professionally: pure dedication. The friendly Portuguese, who previously worked for a network solutions company and studied computing & management at ISLA in Lisbon, takes this opportunity to tell us more about his astonishing career and current role as a program director with SELLBYTEL.
Amatijane, how has your career started and grown within the SELLBYTEL Group?
I started as a Customer Service Advisor for our client, a leading producer of IT lifestyle products, at the end of 2010, which was quite challenging for me, as I entered an entirely new field.
As months went by, I became more and more of an expert in what I did, and suddenly everything started to flow naturally. I later moved from an advisor to a coach, then trainer, and finally quality manager for the same project. In the end of 2016, I got promoted to program director.
What tasks does your current role involve?
Well, I principally make sure all of our client’s needs are met according to the established goals. My job is to fully understand our business and objectives, and collaborate with our partner in the most transparent and upfront way to ensure highest efficiency and quality levels. I also have to ensure that our employees get the support they need and deserve.
Is there anything you particularly enjoy about your position?
I love engaging with all the different departments within the SELLBYTEL Group. That’s the best way to learn and grow for me.
Do you also face any challenges? If so, can you give us some examples?
Of course, I have challenges, just like everyone does. Having to readjust to the client’s varying requests and needs is certainly one. These often involve last minute changes within our processes. Considering the large size of our project, we need to adapt really fast. This requires vast efficiency so that all involved departments accomplish the set goals within the required time frame.
What would you say are the key qualities that helped you develop in your career?
In my particular case, I would definitely say my major effort, a positive attitude and a lot of dedication have repeatedly helped me progress professionally.
Finally, how do you like to spend your free time?
I absolutely love playing soccer and spending time with my lovely family.
