Take matters into your own hands!
“Bash”, as people call our cheerful colleague Basvinder Singh from Kuala Lumpur, is a real expert in the customer interaction business. Starting with his very first job, he explored the field from many different angles: as a Trainer, Team Lead, Quality- or Workforce Manager.
According to Basvinder, you need to be a jack of all trades before you can become the master of one. And he surely does master his job! Basvinder has been enriching our hub in Kuala Lumpur with his expertise and great personality for four years. Read our interview to find out more about the interesting Senior Program Manager and his impressive career at SELLBYTEL.
Basvinder, how did you start with SELLBYTEL?
In 2014, I started as an Operations Manager for a newly launched project. That was quite challenging as most of the structure was still being developed. In retrospect, it was the best thing that could have happened to me, as I got a very deep understanding of SELLBYTEL’s business in a very short time.
…Which possibly was the perfect base for your further professional development within SELLBYTEL. Can you tell us where that has led you?
I’m absolutely thankful for the progress I was able to make within only a few years. I was positively pushed and have learned to seize every opportunity I get.
This led me to my current position as a Senior Program Manager. I manage four different projects by ensuring that everyone is happy – our clients as well as our employees.
In your opinion, what is special about SELLBYTEL as an employer?
SELLBYTEL challenges their employees to the same extend as they encourage them. That brings out the best in everyone’s potential.
What do you like most about your current role?
Making an impact! I’m involved in every venture, every strategy meeting and every major decision regarding my projects – and I love seeing the results of my work.
What is your tip for anyone who strives for a career similar to yours?
Imagine your career as your own business and you are the CEO. Take matters into your own hands, strive for development and don’t be afraid to take risks.
My quick-tips for a successful career:
- Imagine it with all your mind
- Believe it with all your heart
- Achieve it with all your might
You’ve already achieved quite a lot in your professional life. Do you still have goals?
Of course I do! I consider myself as a quite competitive person and in my opinion having goals is the most important thing to keep you going. Nevertheless, my goals can’t necessarily be expressed in numbers and figures. My highest aim is to keep my family happy, as they are the driving force behind my dedication for my personal as well as my professional life.
And finally, how do you like to spend your free time?
I enjoy every moment I get to spend with my family and especially my two sons. They keep me busy all the time. I’m also quite active in local charities and love travelling around the world.
