Challenges are my thing
Our colleague Ruth from Barcelona, Spain, has been with SELLBYTEL for quite a few years now. The 35 year old joined the company at the age of only 19. Can you imagine, in real numbers that’s been more than 16 years! Since this is a pretty long time, we thought: we need to take the opportunity and ask Ruth about her time at SELLBYTEL.
Ruth, please tell us some more about your career at SELLBYTEL.
Sure! I joined SELLBYTEL as a Customer Service Specialist in 2000. One year later, I joined the Administration Department as an Accounting Assistant. In this position I learned a lot about all the steps involved in the accounting process.
In 2010, I began my role as a Procurement Manager. In the following 6 years, the team has grown steadily. At the same time, the day to day work has been changing, including a new ticketing software and many new processes. My enthusiasm and desire to do things perfectly have helped me adapt very well here!
And what do you particularly like about your current position?
I love it when a lot of work or a new challenge comes in for the team. I have to say, this makes us stronger as a group every time.
I also like managing all different purchasing phases. That includes searching for a provider, bidding, negotiating, preparing contracts and managing the actual implementation. I especially thrive on tasks when they require extra effort to finish them in record time or when it is a complex implementation. It is always so satisfying to see us succeed as a team!
It seems like you aren’t afraid of challenges … What challenges have you faced in your time with us?
I have faced countless challenges that have, however, made me grow professionally and personally. I think I can say that I am a real fan of challenges!
16 years ago we were around 35 people in the company. Today we have more than 3.300. Constantly adapting and coordinating our work with the increasing number of employees and departments can be quite challenging. To me, decent communication and coordination are decisive here.
And finally, how do you like to spend your free time?
I love spending time with my four year old son! He talks a lot and says amazing things. That’s so much fun to see. It also makes me really happy when we go cycling in the mountains or around town. We further enjoy playing football together.
